It is what it is....Sep 11, 2011
By Grey I recieved some as a gift and being a former meat cutter I instantly noticed the "inspected" badge on the box. Basically its a grade below select which is the low end steaks you get at say a Wal-Mart. What this means is your already overpaying for less quality right off the bat. I figured being Filet they would still be "ok" so we thawed them and cooked them according to the cooking chart. The most obvious thing is the bacon grease. This isn't a major issue since its meant to add flavor but the bacon had no flavor so it defeats the purpose other than to add fat back to the filet since its low grade means almost no marbling. I am not gonna lie and say they were disgusting since I ate 3(the filets are 5 ounce since I removed the 1 ounce piece of bacon so 15 ounces for all 3) and they had an ok beef flavor and they were pretty tender. That being said I decided to run the numbers and realized these come out to be more expensive than "choice" tenderloin in my area and choice is 2 grades above. That's the issue with these steaks, they need to lower the price or raise the quality. Until then no one who takes steaks seriously will ever take Omaha steaks seriously.

the gift recipient of these steaks is an accomplished chef and sadly as the gift giver I found that these steaks were not the treat they were meant to be. maybe it is the best home delivery can offer. I'll opt for fresh next time.

By radishes I got a bunch of Omaha Steaks as a gift, including two boxes of these bacon-wrapped filets. I'm not impressed; they're fairly pedestrian steaks. All the beef was brown upon arrival due to irradiation. Some of the filets came cut in half in a strange way that hurt their presentation. The bacon is below-average. I can get better, fresher beef and bacon at my average local grocer for much less money. The meat is not bad, but it is certainly not worth what they're charging for it.

Great price, great giftApr 05, 2010
By Adam The 12 pack is a great gift idea because Omaha Steaks packages them in two boxes of 6. This makes it cheaper than the 6 pack if you are buying more than one quantity. Omaha is always fast at shipping too. Though I've had other Omaha Steaks products, I have only purchased these as gifts, so I can't comment on taste.
