 Hard to find item.....great value.....excellent qualityJun 06, 2012

First of all, I would like to comment on the previous review for this item. The customer gave it rave reviews but said that the gum came with a "grainy coating" that's horrible. Of course its horrible. Its a special type of sand! YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO EAT THE SAND, YOU HAVE TO RINSE OFF EACH PIECE BEFORE YOU USE IT. The sand is a testiment to the excellent quality of the product. For over 3,000 years, the gum has been harvested the same way. The trees are scared and the "sap" drips down to the ground. The ground is covered by harvesters with a special, clean, white sand to keep the "sap" from becoming dirty when it hits the ground. After it hardens into "teardrops", it is then collected.
Mastic Gum kills bacteria that cause plaque and other dental problems. Whitens teeth. And it tastes absolutely natural....similar to the way patchouli smells.

You really get a lot of pieces in this tiny jar! Some are big, some are small, so you can decide how much you want/need. They are coated in some horrible grainy powder, however, so I rinse off the piece before I chew it. The flavor is mild and really gets your saliva flowing. This has been a major part of my dental health plan and so far, so good. The shipping is more than the actual mastic though, which is insane and it wasn't even packaged so great or anything as to warrant such a high shipping price. Makes you wonder. Anyway, I give it 4 stars because it is good, pure mastic gum which is hard to find, and you do get a lot of it for your money.

Although we searched our area for it, we were able to find it even in specialty stores. The product was good and worth waiting for.

I was hoping for more large pieces instead of the small ones in the jar, but the flavor was very interesting. My son's Latin class was tickled to experience this small part of ancient Rome.

Just received this yesterday. The product came in a glass jar just as pictured and the mastic tears were a nice yellow color. I bought this to use in recipes and have not tried any for that purpose yet but I did chew two pieces and the flavor was great. Thanks very much!
